Vanessa Afton is the daughter of bloodthirsty child killer William Afton. She lived a rather joyful childhood with her father who knew the tricks of entertainment for children without knowing its true nature. Surrounded by toys and animatronic costumes at home, the world of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza quickly became part of her habits with all the time she spent there to the point of knowing every corner of the restaurant like the back of her hand. She was also very sociable and loved playing with the other children who came to have fun with their parents.
After the sudden closure of her father's restaurant due to the strange disappearances of five children who were never found, Vanessa started looking at what happened to them. As she grew up, this question quickly became an obsession. She returned to the old restaurant several times to look where the police might have missed something. But after combing the restaurant from top to bottom, there was only one place left to check even if this idea seemed completely disillusioned to her. What was her scared when she saw with her own eyes that the bodies of the children had been put inside each of the animatronics that she had known for so many years. After correlating her discovery with the numerous children's drawings, the culprit was clear but it was already too late. Her father, controlling the animatronics, immediately realized that his daughter had understood everything and was not going to hesitate to use them.
Vanessa, now struck by a traumatic mix of fear and helplessness, had to comply with William's dark desires, lacking the courage to flee or confront her father. As a result, she was forced to join the police to obtain routine custody of the area where Freddy Fazbear's Pizza is located in order to hide evidence of any disappearances in the abandoned remains of the restaurant caused by William.
Over time, she took on a subtle role of protector with the new guards of security continually hired by William under the false name of Steve Raglan, trying as best she can to avoid a terrible fate. But it was during the confrontation between her father and Mike Schmidt that she found the necessary strength to stand in William's way to protect Mike's sister, Anny, who was unable to accept the murder of a new child. Betrayed and taken by madness, her father did not hesitate to plunge his knife into her abdomen to get rid of her and the problems she caused him. After these events, she was taken to the hospital and remained alive.
